Adult ADHD testing and evaluation for people who want a clearer answer.

When focus, organization, and follow-through keep requiring more effort than they should, a careful psychiatric evaluation can help make sense of the pattern. Objective testing may be included when it can add useful information.

More than a quick checklist

A clearer answer comes from looking at the whole pattern.

Adult ADHD can affect executive function, including starting tasks, organizing information, managing time, remembering steps, regulating attention, and following through.

Those difficulties can also overlap with anxiety, depression, sleep disruption, medical concerns, and sustained stress. Evaluation is designed to sort through those possibilities rather than assuming every focus problem is ADHD.

01

Starting

You know what needs to happen, but beginning often depends on urgency or consequences.

02

Time

Deadlines arrive faster than expected, and estimating how long tasks will take remains difficult.

03

Working memory

Steps, intentions, conversations, or everyday objects disappear from awareness while life keeps moving.

04

Organization

Keeping work, messages, paperwork, and personal responsibilities together requires elaborate systems.

05

Attention

Focus can be intense when something is urgent or interesting, but difficult to direct consistently.

06

Compensation

Achievement may be real, but maintaining it takes long hours, anxiety, overpreparation, or constant self-monitoring.

A psychiatric ADHD evaluation

The evaluation combines clinical context with structured information.

No single questionnaire or computerized task can answer every question. The goal is to understand how symptoms developed, where they create impairment, what else may be contributing, and which next steps make sense.

01

Your history and current life

We review long-standing patterns, present demands, medical history, prior treatment, mood, anxiety, sleep, and the strategies you use to compensate.

02

Structured symptom assessment

Tools such as the Adult ADHD Self-Report Scale help organize symptom information, but are interpreted in context.

03

Objective testing when appropriate

QbCheck may add objective information about attention, activity, and impulsivity when it can help clarify the clinical picture.

04

Collateral information when useful

With your consent, input from someone readily available may be considered when it can add meaningful context. It is not required in every case.

The right kind of evaluation

Psychiatric ADHD evaluation is not the same as neuropsychological testing.

This service is designed for adults seeking diagnostic clarity and psychiatric treatment planning. It is not comprehensive neuropsychological or psychoeducational testing, and it is not intended to produce school, disability, or accommodation documentation.

If your primary goal is ongoing ADHD medication management after an established diagnosis, we may be the right fit for you.

Frequently asked questions

Questions about adult ADHD testing and evaluation.

The information on this page is general and does not replace an individual psychiatric evaluation.

Can adult ADHD testing be completed online?

Yes. Drive Mental Health provides secure video appointments throughout New York. When QbCheck is clinically appropriate, the objective test can be completed remotely using a compatible computer and webcam.

Does everyone complete QbCheck?

No. QbCheck may be used when it is clinically appropriate. The evaluation plan depends on your history, current symptoms, goals, and the questions that need clarification.

Can QbCheck diagnose ADHD by itself?

No. QbCheck provides objective information about attention, activity, and impulsivity. It does not diagnose ADHD on its own and must be interpreted within a broader clinical evaluation.

Does an evaluation guarantee an ADHD diagnosis or medication?

No. Evaluation does not guarantee a diagnosis or any specific treatment. Recommendations depend on the full clinical picture, and no specific treatment or prescription is uniformly appropriate.

Is this a neuropsychological or psychoeducational evaluation?

No. Drive Mental Health provides a psychiatric ADHD evaluation. It is not comprehensive neuropsychological or psychoeducational testing and is not designed to produce school, disability, or accommodation documentation.

What do I need for remote objective testing?

You will need a compatible computer, a webcam, a stable internet connection, and a quiet setting. The care team will explain the practical requirements if QbCheck is included in your evaluation.

Which insurance plans do you accept?

We accept Aetna, Cigna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Curative, Providence Health Plan, Carelon Behavioral Health, and 1199. Participation and benefits depend on your specific plan. Benefits are verified before your first appointment.
